Superintendent Search

String of male and female paper dollsThe Beaufort County School District is an energetic and diverse system where 2,700 employees serve more than 22,000 students. The Beaufort County Board of Education is currently focused on one of its most important jobs: hiring a new superintendent who can build on the district's successes, close achievement gaps, commit to transparency, restore public trust in the district, accommodate growing student enrollments and energize community support.

This past October, the Board of Education voted to hire Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to coordinate the national search for a Superintendent. The Board’s current timeline leads to the presentation and interviewing of finalists in April 2019, although the timeline can be adjusted if necessary to help ensure that Beaufort County obtains the highest caliber of candidates for consideration.

The Board is committed to a transparent search process that includes broad-based public participation.  Details on the search process – including its varied opportunities for public participation – are available on the FAQ page
