Public Comment at Board of Education Meetings

The Board conducts meetings for the purpose of carrying on the official business of BCSD. The meetings are not public hearing meetings but are meetings held in public. Public participation will be permitted only in accordance with the procedures below.

These procedures are designed to encourage participation and ensure the orderly management of the meetings. The Board is committed to compliance with the S.C. Freedom of Information Act as well as all other federal and state laws which regulate or affect Board actions and policy.

Speakers will have the ability to sign up to speak during public comments at board meetings and committee meetings. Speakers participating in person shall read and fully complete a public comment card and submit it to the Board's Executive Assistant. Public Comment Cards will be available at the Board's meeting site beginning thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled board meeting begins. Persons will be heard in the order public comment cards are provided to the Board's Executive Assistant. Speakers participating in public comments virtually will need to submit their requests to participate beginning thirty minutes before the scheduled board meeting begins. Virtual public commenters shall submit the online public comment request form to receive a phone call during public comments. A pop-up will appear on this page 24 hours before a scheduled meeting.
