BLUFFTON, SC - Bluffton Elementary School recently dedicated its school library to retired librarian Victoria V. Moody, honoring her 26 years of service and commitment to students and reading.

The school unveiled a commemorative plaque outside the library during a special ceremony held Wednesday, April 29, officially naming it the Victoria V. Moody Library. District officials, school administrators, teachers, family members, and friends joined Moody to celebrate the occasion.

“It’s a huge honor that’s really such a big deal in my heart,” Moody said during the ceremony. “I hope my name at the door serves to remind everyone of the importance of books and encourage a love of reading.”

The dedication recognizes Moody’s lasting influence on the school community and her passion for creating a welcoming and engaging space for students.

“I love this library. I love all libraries, and I hope everyone who sees it feels some love for libraries,” she added.

Moody joined Bluffton Elementary School when it opened in 1999 and retired at the end of the 2024–2025 school year with more than two decades of service.

Colleagues and school leaders commended Moody for her adaptability and dedication during decades of change in education. From evolving technologies to shifting initiatives, her enthusiasm and commitment remained constant.

“While much changed over Mrs. Moody’s 26 years at Bluffton Elementary, her dedication, resourcefulness, and passion for the library never did,” Principal Dr. Brandi Bullock said, “Her legacy is one that will continue to inspire students and uplift the entire staff.”

Ryan Copeland, District Coordinator of Library Services, emphasized the lasting impact of Moody’s work on the school and its library.

“The Bluffton Elementary library has always been the heart of the school, and that’s a direct result of Vicky Moody’s deep care for her work, her students, and her commitment to leaving the library stronger than she found it,” Copeland said.
