District announces new May River High School principal

BEAUFORT – A seasoned administrator has been selected as the principal of May River High School for the upcoming school year.
 
Carrie Carter, assistant principal at May River High School since 2019, replaces Dr. Karon Webb who has accepted a principal position in Lexington 1 School District. Carter has a secondary educational career spanning 18 years, a dozen of which at the Beaufort County School District (BCSD) where she also served as the Lead School Counselor at May River High School and as a school counselor at Beaufort High School. Prior to this, she began her school counselling career at Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, SC. 
 
Named as BCSD secondary assistant principal of the year for 2023-24 and district school counselor of the year for 2018-2019, Carter holds School Administration Licensure Certification from Gardner-Webb University and a master’s degree in Community Counselling with School Licensure, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Human and Community Services from Lenior-Rhyne College.
