BEAUFORT – The Beaufort County School District honored nearly 115 high school seniors for outstanding academic achievement at Wednesday night’s annual Senior Scholars celebration.

Senior Scholars are students who have been enrolled in a Beaufort County School District high school for a minimum of three consecutive semesters by the second semester of their senior year and who have maintained a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average or higher, ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating class, and earned the equivalent of an 85 percent grade or higher in college preparatory courses, an 80 percent or higher in honors courses, and/or a 75 percent or higher in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or dual enrollment courses throughout their high school careers.

“We’re exceptionally proud of what these outstanding seniors have accomplished during their high school years, and we’re confident their successes will continue into the future,” said Superintendent Frank Rodriguez.

Delivering this year’s keynote address was the first ever set of Senior Scholar triplets, Beaufort High School students Katherine, Margaret, and Sophia Brown who will be attending Tulane, University of Pennsylvania, and Vanderbilt, respectively, this fall. In their remarks, the sisters emphasized the importance of family, educators, peers, and community support in shaping their academic success, noting that perseverance, collaboration, and gratitude played key roles in their journeys. They encouraged their fellow seniors to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to recognize that success is rarely achieved alone.

Additionally, a poem was read by May River High School Senior Scholar Airo Ranera who will be attending the University of SC Honors College this fall. The Bluffton High School choir provided a musical performance.
