Parker’s, which operates 71 convenience stores in Georgia and South Carolina, said the proceeds came from its “Fueling the Community” program. The promotion gives one cent of every gallon of gas sold on the first Wednesday of each month to local schools.

A portion of the Parker’s donation goes to support the school district’s annual “Support Person of the Year” recognition program, which honors school nurses, social workers, bookkeepers, office managers, teacher assistants, school secretaries, bus drivers, and technology and data specialists.  Other funds go to specific schools designated by Parker’s “Pump Pal Club” customers when they purchase their gasoline on the first Wednesday of each month.

"We're incredibly honored to support the hard work of district employees who serve the children of families right here in Beaufort County through our Fueling the Community program," said Parker’s Community Outreach Manager Olivia Parker. "At Parker's, giving back is part of our DNA. We want to be a force for positive change in the communities where we operate stores and believe education has the power to transform lives."

Parker’s launched its charitable initiative in 2011 and has donated money to public and private schools in every community where Parker’s does business.

Superintendent Frank Rodriguez accepted the donation on behalf of the school district.

“This partnership with Parker’s is an wonderful example of a strong community partnership,” Rodriguez said.  “The company’s visible annual donation is greatly appreciated by our employees who serve our children in so many aspects of the district.”

Parker’s has been ranked on Inc.’s elite list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for six years and has been included on GasBuddy's list of the Top 10 Gas Brands in the United States. Parker’s CEO Greg Parker has been honored by Convenience Store News as the Tech Executive of the Year, by the Savannah Chamber of Commerce as the Entrepreneur of the Year, and by the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club as Citizen of the Year.
