Gifted & Talented Screenings

The screening process for students consist of:

  • A Referral Form completed by a parent, teacher, or administrator.  If the school does not have a fine arts program specific to the fine arts discipline area for which screening is requested, a referral form can be submitted by a teacher (outside of the school district) who has direct knowledge of the student’s high potential in the artistic discipline area.
  • On-site critique and evaluation by a panel of judges of the following screening phases:
    • Performance of an unfamiliar music, dance, or theater selection (performing arts) or realistic drawing of a still life (visual arts).
    • Interview with a panel of judges;

The Beaufort County School District offers unique opportunities for creative expression and artistic growth to artistically gifted and talented students in 3rd through 11th grade. Students who participate and are successfully identified as gifted and talented according to the South Carolina Department of Education regulations are eligible to participate in extra arts opportunities offered during the summer at the Sea Island School for the Arts (SISA). SISA will take place in June 2024.

Timeline for Artistic GT Screenings

The Referral Form may be submitted until Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:59pm. The form may be completed in English or Spanish - select the preferred language on the top right corner of the form.

On-Site Auditions

Students must have a completed a Referral Form and Audition Materials to participate in on- site auditions.
