Multilingual Learners (ML)
Multilingual Learners Program (MLP) prepares students for academic success. Beaufort County School district has a team of educators who work with families to identify and assess students whose native or home language is not English. Once students have been assessed, we continue to monitor their academic progress as part of an ongoing process.
There is a Bilingual Liaison in every district school. The Bilingual Liaison supports ML parents and is available to answer questions or concerns regarding their child's education. Bilingual Liaisons organize ML Parent Nights to connect ML families with community resources, they communicate instructional goals and expectations to parents and encourage them to support their children’s learning, they help build connections between ML students and teachers and other school-wide instructional programs; and help parents develop teachers’ skills to utilize effective ML research-based instructional practices.
