Board of Education schedules public forums
for community on plans for 2018-19 budget

BEAUFORT – Two public forums are scheduled in early May for parents and community members to learn more about the school district budget being developed by the Beaufort County Board of Education for the 2018-19 school year.

The first forum will be in Bluffton High School’s media center at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3.  The second will be in Battery Creek High School’s media center at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 8.

Participants at each forum will receive a presentation on the budget and will also have a chance to make comments to Board members and ask questions.

“One of the Board’s most important jobs is developing the school district’s annual budget, and our goal is to make that process transparent to the public,” said Board Chair Earl Campbell.  “We hope parents and taxpayers will attend one of our two budget forums so they can learn about next year’s budget and give their feedback to Board members.”

The Board hopes to officially certify the district’s 2018-19 budget at its May 15 meeting at the Bluffton Library.  Beaufort County Council’s current timeline calls for a third and final reading of the district’s budget on June 11.
