Beaufort County School District is excited to support a variety of Summer Learning Experiences for the children of Beaufort County. Below you will find details for each offering. Some camps are hosted by outside partners so please carefully read the descriptions, fee information, and how to submit your registration. Registration links will follow each camp description.

Students required to attend Summer Reading Camp will be unable to participate in other summer offerings held on the same day and time.


YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP

Day Camp for children that includes outdoor activities, math and literacy activities, crafts, games, camp assemblies, swimming and field trips. Our camps offers an educational component (literacy and math instructions), implemented by certified teachers. Also includes Beaufort County Lib3rary Summer Reading Program. Students who are identified to attend the District Summer Reading Program should attend that program at their assigned school during the school day. Transportation will be offered from most neighborhood assigned schools to YMCA sites for before/after-care following Summer Reading Program at the assigned school, if needed.
Grades:  Rising Kindergarten through rising 6th grade
Dates: June 10 – July 25, 2019 (No Camp on Friday)
Locations: Coosa Elementary SchooL
Time: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm (Mon. – Thur.)

CREATEng

The GSSM’s is one-of-a-kind engineering and design thinking day camp for rising 8th and 9th graders. Image you are a NASA engineer. Your mission: to develop a sustainable colony on Mars working with a team of talented peers, create, test, and refine solutions to the challenges you encounter as you establish on the red planet.
Grades: Rising 8th and 9th graders
Location: River Ridge Academy
Dates: June 10-13, 2019 (No Camp on Friday)
Times: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Fee: $225 per student ($205 Early Bird Rate Apply by April 15Financial Aid Available
TO REGISTER: Apply directly to the Governor's School. Camp fills up quickly so register as soon as possible!  Application Deadline May 31.
Note:  No transportation. Bring a bag lunch.  


SEA ISLAND SCHOOL FOR ARTS and ACADEMICS (SISA2)

This two-week camp for BCSD identified Gifted and Talented Arts and Academic students provides in-depth, advanced-level creative workshops taught by master teachers and professional artists.
Grades:  Rising 4th through 6th grades (SISA2 Junior) & Rising 7th- 9th grades (SISA2) identified GT Art and Academics students
Dates: July 15-18, 2019 and July 22-25, 2019, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (students may attend one or both weeks)
Location: Beaufort Middle School
Fee: $ 100 each week.

Note: Transportation provided from cluster middle schools, bring a snack/bag lunch.


BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB SUMMER DAY CAMPS

Day Camp for children that includes indoor and outdoor activities, crafts and games. Students who are identified to attend the District Summer Reading Program should attend that program at their assigned school during the school day. Transportation will be offered from assigned school to close-by, neighborhood B and G Club sites for before/after-care following Summer Reading, if needed.
Grades:  Rising Kindergarten through rising 6th grade

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB SUMMER DAY CAMPS

The Boys and Girls club of Bluffton is partnering with the Beaufort County School District regarding the Elementary Summer Reading Program. Students enrolled in the School District’s Elementary Summer Reading Program at Bluffton Elementary, River Ridge Academy, Okatie Elementary, M.C. Riley Elementary, Red Cedar Elementary and Pritchardville Elementary have the opportunity to attend the Boys and Girls club of Bluffton. The cost covers a limited membership fee, a daily late afternoon snack and adult supervision care while participation in planned activities at the Bluffton Club.
Grades:  Rising Kindergarten through rising 6th grade

Dates: June 10-July 3
Days: Monday through Thursday
Time: 3:00 pm-6:00 pm
Cost: $60 per child (fee due before May 6)
Note: Your child would be transported from the school to the Boys and Girl Club of Bluffton. It would be your responsibility to pick your child up before 6:00 pm on the dates of the program.

CAMP TREASURE CHEST - BEAUFORT

Camp Treasure Chest is a four-week summer day camp for children and young adults with special needs.  Campers enjoy music therapy, storytelling, games, sports, arts and crafts, trips to local businesses, bowling, and several field trips out of town.  Campers must be eligible through South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs in order to participate. Lunch and healthy snacks provided.   Applications are on a first come first serve basis due to the limited number of campers accepted. 
Ages: 6-12 and 13-21 (separate groups)
Dates: June 24- July 20, 2019 (On Fridays will be field trips) 
Time: 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Kids Can CODE

Students will learn creative coding through games and apps by working in a real software development environment to design, program and publish mobile apps and games. Learning to code by creating real products, students discover how to make amazing things and have an impact on their world.
Grades: Rising 3rd through 5th grades

Destination: STEM

This year, our STEM Destination is oceanography – the study of the ocean, its properties, and its characteristics. Some of the topic studied are the ocean floor, marine life, geography of the ocean floor and the water. Our students will become young oceanographers as they explore the different oceans on our planet and their characteristics. They will learn how science, technology, engineering, and math all contribute to the study of oceanography. We will have a Master Naturalist come to visit and speak to us about the ocean water in our area. Students will have the opportunity to attend the Port Royal Maritime Center on June 20

Eco Camp XXIX – The Best of ECO Camp

Learn about our Coastal Ecosystem on a field trip to the Port Royal Sound Maritime Center on Friday, July 26.
Ages: rising 1st grade to rising 6th graders

CAMP CONROY BUILD-A-BOOK

Garbage and the 4 Rs: Recycle, Reuse, Renew, and Repurpose, Making the World a Better Place. Participants will engage in writing, illustrating, photographing, editing and storyboarding, and producing a book. 
Ages: two classes are available: 8-11 and 12-15
