Meet Our Assistant Principal of the Year

 

Despite being born and raised in Kentucky, the horse capital of the world, Whitney Harris now calls sun-soaked Beaufort, South Carolina, her home.

Prior to taking a role in education with Beaufort County School District, Ms. Harris earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Elon University and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

The entirety of her educational career has been spent serving the students, parents, and staff of Beaufort County School District. She began working as a classroom teacher before taking on the role of Numeracy Coach, and now proudly serves as an Assistant Principal at Mossy Oaks Elementary School.

Ms. Harris is more than just passionate about education, as she deems it the foundational building block of our community’s future. The key to building that cornerstone, according to Ms. Harris is creating strong, efficacious relationships with all stakeholders.

When she’s not taking on the role of an administrator, you might find Ms. Harris in her kitchen, baking something with her sourdough starter while singing a song from her namesake, Whitney Houston. She might also be found out on the road, traveling to some new destination or visiting family. Or, she may very well be lounging on the beach.
