Meet Our Assistant Principal of the Year

From her earliest days in the Beaufort County School District — at St. Helena Elementary, Lady’s Island Middle, and Beaufort High — she experienced firsthand how committed teachers and school leaders can shape students’ futures. Returning home after graduating from the University of South Carolina, she wanted to give back to the community that raised her. Teaching in the classroom, first in second grade and later in the Chinese Immersion classroom showed her the power of strong instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and systems that support both students and teachers.
Serving as State Reading Coach expanded her view: she saw how leadership at the school and district level could scale effective practices, lift teacher capacity, and remove barriers to student learning. Earning a Master’s in Educational Leadership deepened her skills and conviction that thoughtful leadership creates safe, equitable, and high‑performing learning environments.
Ultimately, she pursued educational leadership because she wanted to amplify impact — to support teachers, shape programs, and build a school culture where every student feels known, challenged, and supported to reach their full potential. Returning to Lady’s Island Middle as assistant principal is a full‑circle opportunity to lead in a community that means so much to her.
