Tonya Crosby, CPA, CGFO
Chief Financial Officer

Tonya Crosby is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Government Finance Officer. She oversees the district’s Finance, Food Service and Technology Divisions.  For the past 22 consecutive years, and continuing under her direction, the Beaufort County School District has maintained an uninterrupted history of clean audit opinions, has a long history of high credit ratings and has strong internal financial controls.

A graduate of Beaufort County School District schools, Tonya went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Clemson University. She worked for a local CPA firm for seven years before joining the district in 2001. Her passion is our students and her passion for serving them is evident in the systems, accountability and high standards she maintains.

Over the past 33 years, the Beaufort County School District's Finance department has won national awards for excellence from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. These honors demonstrate the department's commitment to excellence and transparency in accounting and financial reporting.

The district’s bond ratings are Aa1 with Moody’s Investors Service.

The Finance Department directs and manages the budgeting, accounting and reporting of all school district funds, takes the lead role in long-term financial planning, and oversees the technology and food services divisions.
