Colleges and universities to make ‘sales pitches’
to district students, parents at 2018 College Fair

BEAUFORT – More than 80 colleges and universities will make sales pitches to Beaufort County public and private high school students and their parents Wednesday evening at a college fair at the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Bluffton campus.

The event will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at USCB’s Recreation Center building in Bluffton.

Schools advertising their programs to students will range from small private colleges to large public universities.  Local schools will include the University of South Carolina-Beaufort and the Technical College of the Lowcountry, while out-of-state schools will include universities such as Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee.

Students and their parents will visit booths staffed by college and university representatives who will answer students’ questions about academic offerings, tuition costs and scholarship opportunities.

Director of Secondary Education Geri Henderson said the annual college fair’s goal is to focus students on preparing for new goals.

“This is the first year that students and their parents will be able to attend the fair together,” Henderson said.  “The best careers require more education beyond high school, and Wednesday evening, we’ll have more than 80 college and university programs in one place so students and parents will find it easy to visit with many of them.”
